“He’s Just Not That Into It… Yet”

Let’s talk about something nobody wants to admit as a wrestling parent, but we’re all thinking it:

“What if my kid doesn’t want it as bad as I do?”

This fear creeps in after a rough tournament. After another practice where they seemed distracted. After you’ve put in the time, money, sacrifices, and your kid looks like he’s just, going through the motions.

Here’s the truth:

Your kid might not be “all in” yet.

But that doesn’t mean they never will be.

It means something is missing. And most parents guess wrong.

Here’s what parents usually do (that backfires):

  • They double down on pushing harder
  • They threaten to take wrestling away
  • They use guilt: “Do you know how much we’ve spent?”

But here’s the reality:

Kids don’t burn out from wrestling.

They burn out from pressure, confusion, and lack of direction.

Wrestling becomes heavy instead of empowering. And when it feels like a job they didn’t apply for, they check out.

So what’s the fix?

Get Clarity on THEIR Why

We teach this in the Wrestling Parent Masterclass:

Ask your kid “Why do you want to wrestle?”

Then ask why again, and again, up to 7 times.

It digs past the surface (“It’s fun”) into something real (“I want to make Dad proud” or “I want to feel confident in school”).

When you unlock that emotional WHY, you’ll have a motivated kid who owns their journey.

Real motivation comes from the inside, not from yelling louder in the stands.

If you’re not getting that response from your kid right now, don’t panic.

It’s not too late.

It just means you need a better strategy.

Inside the Wrestling Parent Masterclass, I show you the exact steps to:

  • Reignite your kid’s passion
  • Build a rock-solid bond through the sport
  • Stop being the villain on the car ride home

Wrestling isn’t about raising the best athlete.

It’s about raising the best person, and this sport is the tool.

Let’s make it count.
